What Extreme Makeover Home Edition Means to Me
ByI have seriously reduced the amount of time I spend watching TV, mainly because watching TV is not an income-producing activity, but I still try to not miss Extreme Makeover Home Edition. What an amazing show!
I’ve been watching this show on ABC for a couple of years now. Why am I a fan?
I am a strong believer in paying it forward and instilling hope. Families with dilapidated homes, families on the brink of bankruptcy and foreclosure, families with members facing illnesses and disabilities, families on their last leg — these deserving Americans are given a second chance! And with a second chance, they are in a better position to give back to others.
In fact, a lot of these families, with next to nothing in regard to resources, are still an important part of their communities. Some provide after-school care. Some help disabled children. Some rescue and rehabilitate abused animals. But the common theme is that they all are living in homes that are falling apart and often uninhabitable. These families deserve so much more. And this show provides them the opportunity they need.
Now I know that TV is about making money, and corporate sponsors like Sears and CVS get to self-promote, but to me this show is really changing lives.
I would be willing to bet that in the many years that it has been on the air, Extreme Makeover Home Edition has helped more families rebuild than our own Government! Habitat for Humanity, Brad Pitt rebuilding in New Orleans… the point that I am trying to make is that we must help each other out because our Government is not going to help us. It doesn’t care. But we care about each other!
So… this show is important to me because it serves as a reminder of many things:
– Never lose hope
– Pay it Forward
– Volunteer
– Be an Active Part of Your Community
– Love Your Family… Family is Forever!
